Hemsö is the leading owner of properties for public use in Sweden. The hallmarks of Hemsö´s business are long-term leases, stable tenants, and strong ownership.

We strengthen the backbone of society

Hemsö's business concept is to sustainably own, manage and develop properties for public use. Our vision is to strengthen the backbone of society and we focus on the people on our properties. By meeting the growing need for social infrastructure, Hemsö contributes to an important part of society and creates sustainable growth for Swedish pensions through our majority owner, the Third Swedish National Pension Fund.

Properties for public use

Hemsö’s property portfolio is currently divided between the Swedish, German, and Finnish markets, with Sweden accounting for the largest share of the portfolio. The tenants are primarily the state, municipalities, and county councils, but also private companies with tax-funded operations.

Public properties are predominantly used for taxpayer-funded operations and are purpose-built for public services.

Thanks to our owners, we can grow and meet our customers’ changing needs regardless of the economic outlook. Low operational risk and financial stability mean security for our tenants.     Strategy and value creation

    Hemsö’s strategy is to invest in major cities, with a focus on entering into long-term lease agreements with predominantly public-sector tenants. The aim is that the business model will generate long-term stable returns.
