Art that enriches our environments

At Hemsö, we see art as a natural part of our properties – places where people study, work, receive care and live. Here, art helps to create environments that feel safe, inclusive and vibrant. By integrating art into both new-build and existing properties, we aim to strengthen the identity of the place and create experiences that resonate. Art can serve as a meeting point, spark curiosity and contribute to a greater sense of connection for those who spend time in our environments.

Here we have gathered a selection of art works at our properties

Our working method is based on a long-term perspective. By collaborating with professional artists and, at times, involving tenants and local businesses, we create art that is relevant to the place and the people who use it.

  • Capella

An art project in collaboration with KV Art School at the Lindholmen 1:12 community property in Karlastaden, Gothenburg. As part of the project, several students were given the opportunity to create murals in the stairwells on each floor of the building.

  • Campus Tensta

There are a number of artworks on Hemsö’s Lilla Tensta 1 property. Several of these pieces are located in the winter garden and have been there since the building was originally constructed in 1984.

  • Ektorp School

When the old school was taken down, materials were collected and reused in the form of various art installations at the newly built school, the property at Sicklaön 351:1 in Nacka.

  • The Stavsborg School

Recycled art at the Hemsö property Älta 14:97 in Nacka. Materials from the old school were given a new life in the new one.

  • Campus Vasastan

A mural created in 2022 in partnership with Wall Street Stockholm, following a major refurbishment of Hemsö’s property Kadetten 29 at Karlbergsvägen 77 in Vasastan, Stockholm.

  • The Bagartorp School

Several murals have been painted at Hemsö’s property Bagartorp 19 in Solna. The school has been certified by the Nordic Ecolabel, which meant that the paint used by Grafitti Sthlm for the murals also had to meet certain sustainability criteria.

  • Bingeby

In 2025, an art project called ‘Bingan gemenskapar’ was carried out at Hemsö’s Tomaten 1 property in Visby, following a request from local children and young people.

  • Mälardalen University

The artwork ‘Tell’ is a public sculpture group created in 2003 by the Swedish artist and sculptor Anna Stake. The work consists of three stainless steel pieces and is located on Hemsö’s property Rosenhill 1, outside Mälardalen University (Västerås Campus).

Sustainabilty

Society and our responsibiliy

As property owners, we play an important role in society. We make a considerable contribution to the creation of new care home places and school places. Through collaboration with various organisations, we also contribute to a more inclusive society. As a property owner, Hemsö also wishes to make a contribution through art in the public environment, which has many positive effects, helping to create a more pleasant and safer place. You can read more about our societal commitment here.
