Collaboration that led to a lower climate impact
Fiskebäck care home, operated by Attendo, is located by the marina in Gothenburg and comprises 109 apartments across seven units. During 2026, Hemsö, together with RO-Gruppen, carried out an extensive renovation of the property.
The renovation included new kitchens for the care units, refurbished communal areas, several fully renovated apartments, new lifts and a new sheet-metal roof better suited to the coastal location. The fifth floor was also connected to create better flows for both residents and staff.
Through close collaboration between Hemsö, RO-Gruppen and the project consultants, the original technical solution was redesigned. Among other measures, replacing the planned steel structure with timber reduced the climate impact by 110 kg CO₂e/m² while also lowering costs, without compromising on quality.

The renovation was carried out while the care home remained fully operational, placing high demands on communication and planning.
