Hemsö and Järva Gymnasium create conditions for a world-class upper secondary school

For Hemsö, education and the development of social infrastructure are two core issues that go hand in hand. Schools are important places for children’s and young people’s learning, reflection, and movement; it is where we create the future. When the opportunity arose to acquire the former high school facilities in Tensta, Hemsö seized the chance to create a modern and welcoming campus in the Stockholm area.

The result was Campus Tensta – a state-of-the-art learning environment where both the spaces and educational conditions align with students’ needs and the demands of the future job market. Here, Hemsö has made a long-term investment to provide a safe, inspiring, and high-quality educational environment.

Partnerships pave the way for a world-class school

To realise the vision of a truly outstanding upper secondary school as part of Campus Tensta, Hemsö started working closely with Amir Sajadi. Amir is a social entrepreneur and founder of the non-profit and politically independent Roya Foundation, which previously established the award-winning Järvaskolan in Kista. This partnership has resulted in the establishment of Järva Gymnasium at Campus Tensta, a modern upper secondary school with a focus on high-quality education, advanced technology, elite sports and culture – a holistic concept that equips students with the knowledge, abilities and skills to become the leaders, entrepreneurs and society builders of the future.

The collaboration with Hemsö has resulted in a world-class school environment where we at Järva Gymnasium have been given the opportunity to fully focus on our core operations.

“We create the conditions for students to become well-educated, well-being, and engaged citizens who will, in the future, drive development at all levels of society,” says founder Amir Sajadi.

Expertise and entrepreneurial spirit in focus

At Järva Gymnasium in Tensta, Stockholm, four educational programs are offered, all infused with profiles of innovation, entrepreneurship, and global citizenship: the Natural Sciences Program, the Social Sciences Program, the Economics Program, and the Technology Program.

Unique and innovative learning environments

At Järva Gymnasium, the conditions for students’ development are created through two unique learning environments – Lärverkstan (The Learning Workshop) and Skaparverkstan (The Creation Workshop). Here, academic support, creative thinking, and entrepreneurial skills are combined in a way that unlocks the full potential of students.

In Lärverkstan, students receive personalized, focused support according to their unique needs. Experienced educators proactively work to identify strengths and challenges, helping each student achieve their academic goals. This happens through knowledge assessments, individual development plans, study techniques, one-on-one coaching, and special educational support.

Skaparverkstan is an environment where learning comes to life through practical application, creative problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking. Here, students are introduced to the latest technologies in programming, AI, VR/AR, robotics, and automation. In the digital creation lab, equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and many other tools, students practice design processes to create prototypes, products, and business ideas. In the entrepreneurship hub, there is space for co-working and business advice for students interested in starting their own companies. Additionally, students have the opportunity to continuously participate in entrepreneurship camps where they develop skills such as initiative, project management, and communication.

The key to success lies in a combination of academic support, creative thinking, and entrepreneurial skills. In our two unique learning environments, students are given the tools to shape their own unique path forward.

Bridge to higher studies and academic focus

The goal at Järva Gymnasium is for all students to continue to college or university after graduation. To optimally prepare students for upcoming higher education studies, Järva Gymnasium has partnered with several leading institutions, such as the Stockholm School of Economics, KTH, Stockholm University, and Södertörn University. Researchers regularly visit the school, and all students have the opportunity to visit colleges and universities during their high school years. In addition, students are offered courses in academic writing and the opportunity to take a university course during their third year of upper secondary school.

– We are building a natural bridge between upper secondary school and the academic world. The goal is to prepare students so that they feel confident and welcome when they take the step to university.
