Campus Polacksbacken
An attractive school campus
Hemsö developed an university campus in central Uppsala. The Kronåsen property consists of 20 buildings.
The campus has a leasable area of a total of 28,300 square meters and offers school places for about 2,400 students.
Hemsö won the municipality’s tender for a lease for a new upper secondary school. This means that the project also includes the development of a new municipal school that will have modern teaching facilities for 1,400 students. The project took place in two phases, the first phase for 800 students was completed in the summer of 2023 and the second phase for 600 students was completed in the summer of 2024.
Hemsö also took over another project that involves rebuilding to create a new comprehensive school, F-3, for 200 students. Academedia already operates two upper secondary schools for a total of 800 students in one of the buildings on the property.
Historical buildings
The area where the property is located has a long history dating back to the late 1800s when it was used by the military. The current buildings were built in the early 1900s and are listed buildings.
