Herttoniemi preschool
Hemsö is developing a preschool in the Herttoniemi district of Helsinki and has signed a 25-year lease agreement with the City of Helsinki. The investment amounts to approximately EUR 11 million.
The new preschool with room for 224 children will use locally produced energy as much as possible. At least 90 per cent of the annual thermal energy requirement will come from geothermal energy and at least 10 per cent of the electrical energy from solar power.
The façade will be in wood and the preschool will have a green roof.
The building will be certified according to Breeam’s Excellent level. Occupancy is planned for early 2025.
