Herttoniemi preschool
Hemsö have developed a preschool in the Herttoniemi district of Helsinki and has signed a 25-year lease agreement with the City of Helsinki. The investment amounted to approximately EUR 11 million.
The new preschool with room for 224 children uses locally produced energy as much as possible. At least 90 per cent of the annual thermal energy requirement will come from geothermal energy and at least 10 per cent of the electrical energy from solar power.
The façade is in wood and the preschool has a green roof.
The building is certified to BREEAM Excellent standard, and the preschool was ready for occupancy in 2025.
