Careful refurbishment of Kristiansborgsbadet
Hemsö has developed Kristiansborgsbadet into a modern fitness and wellness centre with a swimming pool.
In 2020, Hemsö acquired Kristiansborgsbadet, a building dating back to the 1960s in central Västerås. During the refurbishment, we paid great attention to the bath’s original style and therefore much has been preserved during the adaptation to modern conditions.
The 25-metre long swimming pool, which was 3.8 metres deep at its deepest point, has been shallowed and is now 1.4 metres deep overall.
The new Kristiansborgsbadet has retained the colours and shapes typical of the period. The beautiful mosaic and marble floors and the artistic decorations remain in the Roman bath.
A 15-year lease has been signed with Actic, which is responsible for the operation of both the gym and the swimming pool.
The entire facility was fully refurbished and opened after summer 2023.
