School in Rangsdorf
The town of Rangsdorf, just outside Berlin, has chosen Hemsö in a public tender to develop a new secondary school of approximately 8,000 square metres. A 20-year lease agreement has been signed with the municipality. The investment amounts to EUR 47 million.
The project includes a secondary school for 220 pupils, a sports hall to be used by both the school and associations, a youth centre and a sports field. The sports field and schoolyard cover an area of 36 000 square metres.
The school will be built in three floors. An additional building with changing rooms will be built next to the school. The land will allow for an extension of 600 square metres, providing school places for an additional 110 pupils. In the neighbourhood of the school, the construction of 1 200 residential units is planned. The school will be able to cope with the increase in pupils that will come with the new housing through future expansion.
Jens Nagel, Head of Region, Germany– This is Hemsö’s second school project in Germany. The fact that the City of Rangsdorf chose Hemsö in a public tender shows that our offer is attractive.
– Hemsö has completed a large number of school projects in Sweden and Finland and has solid expertise in developing schools. We are currently in dialogue with municipalities across the country to develop or renovate schools,’ says Jens Nagel.
The project will be certified according to DGNB Gold. Construction is planned to start in spring 2025 and completion is expected in summer 2026.
