The Bagartorp school
Sweden’s first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled secondary school
Hemsö has developed a new secondary school and sports hall in the residential area Bagartorp in Solna in collaboration with the City of Solna. The tenant is the Raoul Wallenberg School.
The school has room for 360 students and is the first Nordic Swan Ecolabelled school in the Stockholm region.
Idrottshallen is a municipal hall that, in addition to school sports for the school’s students, is also used by associations after school hours. The sports hall is also Nordic Ecolabelled.
The Nordic Ecolabel is a certification that places high demands on energy use, chemical products, construction products/products and a number of indoor environmental factors that are relevant to human health and the environment.
The schoolyard at Bagartorpsskolan has been developed together with Hemsö, students from the school and Fojab architects with the aim of creating an inclusive schoolyard with something to do for everyone. There is a lot of greenery, a welcoming outdoor living room, an activity trail, wave bench, ball courts with a different design, ping-pong tables and cozy seating around trees.
Ground was broken on 4 March 2020 and the school was completed in 2021.
In the film (in Swedish) you can see when two of the murals on the school´s facades emerge.
