Joensuu Conservatory
A new school for musicians
Hemsö has developed a new school for music education, Joensuu Conservatory in Finland. A 20-year lease has been signed with the City of Joensuu.
The new conservatory is Hemsö’s first establishment in Joensuu and has been built on the University Campus of Eastern Finland. The conservatory is part of the City of Joensuu’s activities, which include practical music education. The total leasable area amounts to 3,700 square meters.
The conservatory houses a music hall with 250 seats and a rehearsal hall for 100 musicians. In addition to the halls, there are also teaching facilities in the building.
Construction started in the second quarter of 2020 and was completed in the third quarter of 2021. The building is constructed to high technical standards and has been environmentally certified according to BREEAM Very Good.
